SEHS Science Olympiad reaches the heights

The SEHS Science Olympiad team placed third at the regional competition and will participate in the state competition at Emory University.

South Effingham High School's Science Olympiad team placed third at the regional competition, held recently at East Georgia College.


Out of 23 different events, SEHS students placed fourth or higher in 11 and the Mustangs took third place overall. They qualified for the state competition to be held at Emory University on March 24.


Awards for second place include: Kyle Hackworth and Garrett Keyes for Thermodynamics; Joe Shaw and Alexis Fortson for Robot Arm; India Nelson for Water Quality; and Kyle Hackworth and Alexis Fortson for Rocks and Minerals.

Awards for third place include: Joe Shaw and Alexis Fortson for  Experimental Design; Alex Jonas and Adam Yonce for  Towers; Alex Jonas for  Forestry; and Alex Jonas and Johnathan Collins for Helicopters.

Awards for fourth place include:
Garrett Keyes and Adam Yonce for Gravity Vehicle; India Nelson and Alex Jonas for Astronomy; and Zach Goudeau and Connor Cremo for Sounds of Music.
