A Sylvania man jailed last year on drug and weapons charges in Effingham County was arrested again Thursday in Screven County.

James Joyner, 37, of Sylvania, was arrested following a three-month joint investigation by the Effingham County and Screven County sheriff’s offices.

“We try to partner with other agencies because a lot of these guys don’t work (drug operations) in just one county,” said ECSO spokesman Detective David Ehsanipoor.

Deputies searched Joyner’s home on Poor Robin Road in Sylvania and discovered an active methamphetamine lab along with several items used to manufacture meth, according to Ehsanipoor.

Joyner was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine and possession of meth. He is being held in the Screven County Jail.

Joyner was out on bond following a March 2013 arrest in Effingham County on a weapons charge and a charge of manufacturing methamphetamine.

“He has a pretty extensive history with our drug unit,” Ehsanipoor said.
