Chamber sets date for Eggs and Issues review

POSTED: May 12, 2014 8:00 p.m.

The Effingham Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Eggs and Issues Review breakfast, scheduled for May 21 at 7:30 a.m. at the Effingham College and Career Academy on Highway 21.

The annual event is an opportunity to visit with Effingham’s state legislators and hear their responses to current issues and questions concerning Effingham County. State Sen. Jack Hill and state Reps. Jon Burns and Bill Hitchens will be in attendance and will address the audience and answer questions following a breakfast prepared by Simply Southern.

There will be a panel discussion with Hill, Burns and Hitchens. The Chamber’s governmental affairs committee prepared a list of issues for the elected officials involving funding for transportation, education, health care, support for economic development and how the 2015 session of the General Assembly could affect the community.

“We expect a great turnout for this event,” Chamber President Dinah King said. “Last year we had over 70 attendees at the Eggs and Issues breakfast, and we expect a record turnout again on May 21.”

Attendees will be invited to submit written questions to the program’s moderator, who will direct them to our panel of elected officials.

The Chamber asks for reservations by May 16 so the meal count can be made. Contact the chamber by telephone or by email at 754-3301 or Breakfast cost is $12 for Chamber members and $15 for visitors.
