Four ECRP athletes place at state track

Four members of the Effingham County Recreation and Parks track and field team, above, placed in the GRPA state meet, held earlier this month in Carrollton.

The Effingham County Recreation and Parks track and field team participated in the Georgia Recreation and Parks track and field state championships in Carrollton on May 3-4. The team had 13 participants qualify for the state meet and had four members place.

Jabari Parker placed eighth in the 8-and-under boys 200 meter. Sophie Butler placed third in the 10-and-under girls 50 meter. Bella Tatum finished third in the 12-and-under girls 800 meter and Kyrian Watson finished sixth in the 14-and-under girls running long jump.

The following participants qualified for the state meet: Savannah Rodriquez, Sophie Butler, Jabari Parker, Elisabeth McMillen, Vincent Higgins, Owen Mattox, Akenyon Wallace, Alexandra Andrews, Cheyene Ryan, Bella Tatum, Joseph Burdick, Darius Jenkins and Kyrian Watson.
