On Monday, Effingham County citizens will come together for a Memorial Day program in the Veterans Park to remember those who have served their country. It is a national holiday set aside for this remembrance and appreciation of veterans.

Several veterans will take part in the program. Sen. Jack Hill, a retired National  Guard officer, will be the speaker. Still serving his country, Lucas Hynes will lead the singing. William Clark, a retired Army officer, will give the invocation.

The program master of ceremonies, Lamar Crosby, is a retired Army officer.

Youth will be represented by the Effingham County High School Air Force JROTC presenting the colors. The Guyton Boy Scout Troop 295 will lead the pledge of allegiance to the flag.

The public is invited to attend and join the community in appreciation for all veterans.

The program will start at 6 p.m. at the Veterans Park in Springfield on Highway 21. The Effingham County Board of Education auditorium on Ash Street will serve as a rain site.
