ECSO looking into report of suspicious man

POSTED: June 6, 2014 3:31 p.m.

The Effingham County Sheriff's Office has received a report of a white man in a white or silver SUV who approached two children Thursday afternoon in the Stonegate subdivision and tried to get them into his car.

The older white male said he wanted to show them a snake he had found. The kids told him no and walked away quickly, according to the ECSO.

The man is described as a middle age or older male with short gray hair and glasses. No other details were provided.

"The Effingham County Sheriff's Office has been in contact with the homeowners association and has increased patrols in the Stonegate neighborhood area," said ECSO spokesman Detective David Ehsanipoor.

"There is no need to panic but we do want to inform the public of this report and ask everyone to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the Sheriff's Office," Ehsanipoor added.

Anyone with information is asked to call the ECSO at 912-754-3449.
