Chase after complaint leads to six arrests in Bulloch County

POSTED: June 16, 2014 7:32 p.m.

Six people in Bulloch County were arrested Friday after Effingham County Sheriff’s deputies and Statesboro-Bulloch Crime Suppression Team investigators followed up on a drug complaint.

Officers went to a home on Highway 119 near Stilson about the drug complaint and the possibility stolen property was on the premises, according to Bulloch Sheriff Lynn Anderson. A tenant at the house, Robert James Kendrick Jr. 27, fled in a vehicle.

After a short chase, Kendrick abandoned his truck and headed for the woods on foot. His two passengers, Jeffery Taylor, 26, and Aubrey Sims, 33, both of Ellabell, were arrested after officers found marijuana in the truck.

As law enforcement personnel searched the woods for Kendrick, they also found a 2012 Polaris Ranger that a Stilson-area resident had reported stolen in March. The Ranger was returned to its owner, Anderson said.

Later in the day, CST investigators received information that Kendrick was hiding at a residence on Railroad Bed Connector in the Brooklet area. Kendrick was arrested after a search. Also arrested were Linda Kendrick, 52, of Highway 119 in Ellabell; James Robert Kendrick, 33, of Highway 80 in Brooklet; and Annie Elizabeth Kendrick, 32, also of Highway 80 in Brooklet.

Further investigation led officers to methamphetamine at Robert James Kendrick Jr.’s residence, Anderson said.

Robert James Kendrick Jr. was charged with fleeing and attempting to elude, obstruction, felony theft by receiving stolen property and possession of methamphetamine.

Taylor and Sims were each charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Linda Kendrick, James Robert Kendrick and Annie Elizabeth Kendrick each were charged with hindering the apprehension of a criminal.
