WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Rep. John Barrow (D-Augusta) will hold his annual jobs fairs in the 12th District during the August district work period. The jobs fairs are part of a series of events that will be held while Congress in away from Washington for the month of August.

The first jobs fair will be held in Augusta on Aug. 9. The second, a jobs fair specifically tailored to the veterans and service members community, will be in Statesboro on Aug. 16.

“Sometimes, the hardest part about finding a job is knowing where to look,” Barrow said.  “We’re taking the searching part out of the equation by bringing together employers from our region who are hiring right now.”

The veterans’ jobs fair will be open exclusively to veteran job seekers, active duty military members, Guard and Reserve members, and military spouses from 9-10 a.m. The event will open to the general public at 10 a.m. In addition to helping with employment opportunities, jobseekers will be able to participate in career building workshops, including resume writing and best-practices for job interviews.

Veterans are invited to participate in the career building workshops from 8-9 a.m. Workshops for the general public will run from 9-10 a.m.
