Rincon, Guyton Elementary earn Title I honors

POSTED: March 8, 2017 10:58 a.m.

Two Effingham County elementary schools were honored recently by the Georgia Department of Education as both were named to the 2016-2017 list of Title I Reward Schools.

Rincon Elementary was named as a “Highest-Performing School”, which puts them in the top-five percent of Georgia’s Title I schools with the highest performance over three years for the “all students” group on the statewide assessments.

A Highest Performing School may not be classified as such if it has been identified as a Priority or Focus School.

Guyton Elementary was named as a “High-Progress School”, which puts them in the top-ten percent of Georgia’s Title I schools making the most progress in improving the performance of all students over three years on the statewide assessments.

A High-Progress School may not be classified as such if it has been identified as a Priority or Focus School.

“These schools and districts are working against the odds to provide an excellent education for their students,” State School Superintendent Richard Woods said. “This is so much more than numbers or data. We are talking about changed lives for thousands of students. I can’t overstate how proud I am of every teacher, administrator and parent who worked to make that happen.”
