GUYTON — South Effingham was on the verge of picking up its first win of the season Friday night but a fourth-quarter comeback by Richmond Hill killed the Mustangs’ chances of celebrating homecoming with a victory.

Wildcats quarterback Kasey Green threw two touchdown passes en route to a 31-20 win.

The Mustangs maintained a 13-10 lead at halftime before the Wildcats scored two touchdowns in the second half. Richmond Hill also added a punt return by Aaron Bedgood.

Despite the loss, South Effingham coach Donnie Revell was pleased with his team's effort.

"I'm really proud of our players and the way they've responded over the last couple weeks," said Revell. "Richmond Hill is a really good opponent. They did everything we asked them to do but we just came up short. They made some mistakes and we did, too, but it was a really good game and the kids played really hard. Richmond Hill is a very good team."
