Mars Theatre to present Clovers & Co.

Clovers & Co. was founded in 1981 to provide an opportunity for 4-H youth to promote and share with others, the excitement, leadership and talent evident in 4-H. Interested 4-H'ers from throughout the state audition yearly for the limited number of spots in the show. Only the most talented and outstanding are selected.

SPRINGFIELD — The Georgia 4-H show choir Clovers & Co. will be performing at the Mars Theatre on March 24 at 7 p.m.
This is the 37th anniversary of the group. This year’s show is titled “Beautiful” and includes songs such as “You Don’t Own Me,” “Imagine,” “Statesboro Blues,” “Son of A Preacher Man” and “Somebody to Love.”
Area vocal talents include Kira Howard of Emanuel County, Chyann Hoyle from Bulloch County, Sophia Rodriguez of Liberty County, Willie Spence from Coffee County, Kelly Carter and Tripp Carter from Burke County and Sarah Jane Johnson and Mason McClintock from Bacon County. Band members from surrounding counties include Garry Fulcher from Burke County, Tripp Hardee of Appling County and Blake McBride and Arham Shah of Emanuel County.

The group is composed of talented singers, dancers, musicians and stagehands. The 2017 - 2018 cast has members ranging in age from 11 to 18. Several graduates have gone on to careers in the music and entertainment fields on the national level, including Effingham native Hannah Dasher and Jennifer Nettles of the country group Sugarland. The show is primarily directed by volunteers, giving many hours to assure that all can be proud of the production. Clovers & Co. is proud of its history. Some of their most memorable shows have been for 4-H'ers attending National 4-H Congress in Atlanta, Memphis and Chicago, and National 4-H Conference in Washington, DC. They have also enjoyed performing at state 4-H events throughout the south, including the states of Texas, Virginia, Mississippi, Kentucky, Arkansas, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, Pennsylvania, and Florida. They serve as entertainment at state and national conferences for groups such including the National Association of County Agricultural Agents, Georgia Farm Bureau, Association County Commissioners of Georgia, Georgia Association of Educational Leaders, Georgia High School Student Council Conference and many others.
This show is a result of a $2,000 grant the Mars Theatre received from the Georgia Council of the Arts. Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA) is a division of the Georgia Department of Economic Development whose mission is to cultivate the growth of vibrant, thriving Georgia communities through the arts. GCA provides grant funding, programs and services statewide that support the vital arts industry, preserve the state’s cultural heritage, increase tourism and urture strong communities. Funding for Georgia Council for the Arts is provided by appropriations from the Georgia General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts.
