Parker honored at Young Harris College

Elizabeth Nicole Parker, graduating summa cum laude, earned an Associate of Science degree with a concentration in education during Young Harris College’s commencement service May 5.

A member of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, Parker has been named to the spring semester 2007 Young Harris College dean’s list. Only those students achieving a semester grade point average of 3.5 are eligible for this distinction. Parker has achieved dean’s list status all four semesters of her attendance at Young Harris.

She was recognized for her academic achievements during the Young Harris College honors night ceremony April 23, when she received the following awards:

Academic Dean’s Award – this award is given to students who have maintained a grade point average of 4.0 in courses related to the program of study.

Who’s Who in American Junior Colleges – students are selected by faculty vote and must meet the following qualifications: students must have earned a minimum of 30 semester hours, have a minimum academic average of 3.5, never have been on conduct probation, and must show evidence of good citizenship, participation and leadership in academic and extracurricular activities, and general promise of future usefulness to society.

Parker is the daughter of Teresa Parker of Springfield. She is the granddaughter of Clyde and Betty Layel of Springfield, Maurice Dunaway of Savannah, and Albert Parker of Eden.
