Don’t miss this compelling exhibition of works by well-known local artist Helen Hatch Inglesby (1914-1999).

Affectionately nicknamed the “Silhouette Lady,” the Savannah native specialized in complex and meticulously executed silhouette cut-out compositions, ranging from portraits of prominent Savannahians to charming visual narratives of children at play. This exhibition, drawn from local private collections, includes fine examples of Inglesby’s paintings and drawings in addition to the silhouettes for which she was best known.

A graduate of the Richmond division of the College of William and Mary (today, Virginia Commonwealth University), Inglesby also studied at the Telfair Academy with artists such as Christopher A. D. Murphy, Reuben Gambrell, Elliott O’Hara and David Reese.

She frequently exhibited with the Savannah Art Association and the Society of Georgia Artists and served as an art instructor for numerous local organizations including Savannah Country Day School, Hunter Army Air Field, and the Savannah Art Association.
