A suspect wanted in connection with an armed robbery is in custody, and Effingham County Sheriff’s investigators are continuing to look for his reported accomplice.

Deputies arrested Harris Christopher Cope, 27, of Savannah for a May 22 incident on Quail Run Circle. Cope faces a slew of charges, including nine counts of armed robbery, nine counts of aggravated assault and nine counts of false imprisonment.

“There are multiple victims,” said ECSO spokesman Detective David Ehsanipoor.

Cope also is being charged with one count each of burglary, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Deputies allege that Cope and another man robbed a group of Hispanic men in their home on May 22. One of the victims was pistol-whipped and taken to the hospital for treatment. A large amount of cash was taken during the robbery.

During the arrest, Cope was also in possession of several bags of marijuana.

Investigators are still attempting to identify the second male who committed the robbery but was wearing a mask at the time.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office at 754-3449.

Cope is being held in the Effingham County Jail without bond.
