Howard G.R. Hall Sr. and Linda Kitchens Hall of Stillwell held their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 7.

They were married at the bride’s home on Florida Avenue in Savannah by Rev. Cecil T. Underwood of Morningside Baptist Church. They lived in Savannah for a number of years after their wedding.

Their family now includes three children, Bonnie (Jody) Pritcher of Savannah and Clyo, Glenn (Shelley) Hall of Atlanta, and Kelly Horveath of Roeland Park, Kan. They have nine grandchildren and four great-granddaughters.

Howard’s parents, now deceased, were Medicus Gray Hall and Vera Wasden Hall of Rincon. Linda’s parents, now deceased, are M.D. and Sadie Kitchens of Savannah. The Halls are active members of New Life Worship Center on McCall Road in Rincon. Howard retired from Bellsouth Telephone and Telegraph Company in Savannah after 41 years of service. Linda was a homemaker and when the nest became empty, was employed for two years as a receptionist by Byrd Cookie Company.

They attribute the success of their marriage to their faith in God who has sustained them through the many normal trials of life. Their advice to younger marrieds is these two things: Learn to stop competing to be right; and gain the ability to laugh at situations that once seemed so serious.
