The Effingham Chamber of Commerce has announced that a candidate forum will be held May 5 at 6 p.m. at the Mars Theatre in downtown Springfield.
This forum, sponsored by Hussey, Gay and Bell, will feature candidates who have opposition for the board of commissioners chairman, school board, magistrate court judge, superior court judge, and state representative for District 159. Candidates will be questioned by a panel made up of two journalists and representatives from the Republican and Democratic parties. SAVANNAH-The University of Georgia will hold a dedication ceremony for its newest facilities, the Center for Research and Education at Wormsloe cabins, on Friday, at 4 p.m. at Wormsloe, 7601 Skidaway Road, Savannah.

Jack Hill (R-Reidsville) announced that the Effingham County Recreation Complex will receive $100,000 in grant funding from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources through the Federal Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF).
