Former Effingham County star receives West Georgia honor

Former Effingham County basketball standout Randy Rountree received the Honorary Alumnus Award from the University of West Georgia during the recent "Evening with the Stars" alumni awards gala. Rountree, who lives in Bellevue, Wash., attended UWG from 1972-74 and played on its 1974 national champion basketball team. He is retired from Calgary Scientific, where he most recently served as vice president of healthcare alliances. Rountree, at right, is presented the award by UWG President Dr. Kyle Marrero.
