With just days to go before the Oct. 31 deadline extension allowed by the state Department of Community Affairs, the city of Rincon has delivered a new proposal for service delivery strategy to Effingham County officials.
The city of Rincon dedicated its first park on the city's west side Sunday afternoon under a beautiful blue sky and with a nice crowd on hand to help with the ceremony. The park was dedicated to long-time community leader Peter J. Giles Jr.
Effingham Hospital officials are pressing county commissioners to approve a measure that would guarantee 2 mills in property tax. But commissioners still have questions about the hospital's plans for expansion, questions they say aren't getting answered.
Effingham's Victim Witness Assistance Program held its 20th anniversary appreciation banquet on Thursday evening and had a full house at the Mill Creek Lodge in Rincon. Chairman Ted Kandler opened the meeting and served as emcee for the evening. The group was made up of volunteers and others involved in some way in utilizing the services of this group.
