GPA sees 20 percent hike in TEUs
SAVANNAH-Georgia Ports Authority's (GPA) Executive Director Curtis J. Foltz announced Monday the Port of Savannah experienced nearly 20-percent growth in 20-foot equivalent units (TEUs) for calendar year 2010 with 2,826,308 TEUs, a record for the Authority.

ATLANTA-State Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said Thursday that Georgia's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose to 10.2 percent in December, up two-tenths of a percentage point from a revised 10 percent in November.

Metro Savannah jobless rate rises to 8.9 percent
ATLANTA-The Georgia Department of Labor reported that the preliminary unadjusted unemployment rate in the metro Savannah area increased to 8.9 percent in November, up six-tenths of a percentage point from 8.3 percent in October. Meanwhile, the number of unemployed workers in the area increased to 15,616, up 1,195 from 14,421. The jobless rate in the metro Savannah area in November 2009 was 8.1 percent. Metro jobless rate falls to 7.1 percent
ATLANTA - The Georgia Department of Labor announced Thursday that metro Savannah's unemployment rate declined to 7.1 percent in April, down three-tenths of a percentage point from 7.4 percent in March. The rate was 8.2 percent in April a year ago.
