Metro jobless rate falls to 9 percent in February
ATLANTA-State Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said Thursday that the preliminary unadjusted unemployment rate in the metro Savannah area declined to 9.0 percent in February, down two-tenths of a percentage point from a revised 9.2 percent in January. The jobless rate in the metro Savannah area in February 2010 was also 9.2 percent.
GHA: Hospitals pump more than $39B into state’s economy
ATLANTA-During a time when Georgia's economy took a nosedive, Georgia hospitals continued to provide the state a major boost by pumping almost $39.1 billion into its economy in 2009, according to a recent report commissioned by the Georgia Hospital Association (GHA), the state's largest hospital trade association. This is an increase of more than $918 million from 2008, and an increase of approximately $3 billion from 2007.

Giant gas turbine makes its way through port

State jobless rate dips under 10 percent
ATLANTA-Georgia's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate declined to 9.9 percent in November, down three-tenths of a percentage point from 10.2 percent in October. The one-month decline is the largest in 34 years. The jobless rate was 10.4 percent in November a year ago.
