The Georgia Power Foundation, Inc. recently made its fifth contribution to support the Marine Sportfish Carcass Recovery Project with a $10,000 donation to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. This latest donation makes a total of $55,000 provided to support the project.

Effingham County Superintendent of Schools Rand Shearouse took the gavel from outgoing president Alice DeForest, beginning his tenure as president of the Effingham Chamber of Commerce at the Chamber's annual meeting Thursday night.
Shearouse said he was grateful to serve as Chamber president.

The Effingham Chamber of Commerce held a luncheon Tuesday as a way to say thanks to its group of Chamber ambassadors. The ambassadors are volunteers who represent the Chamber at new business ribbon cuttings, grand openings and the like.
