ATLANTA - The Georgia Department of Labor announced Thursday that metro Savannah's unemployment rate was unchanged at 6.7 percent from November to December, but was down from 8.1 percent in December a year ago.

ATLANTA - The Georgia Department of Labor announced that Effingham County's unemployment rate for November fell to 6 percent, down from 6.9 percent in October. The November 2012 jobless rate was 7.1 percent. The labor force declined by 879 from November 2012-November 2013 but the number of unemployed also fell by 370.
Port of Savannah container volumes jumped 25.8 percent in April, with a total volume of 335,337 20-foot equivalent container units, or an additional 69,000 units.
