Riggs Funeral Home of Guyton announced that office manager Heather Riggs has obtained her funeral director license and embalmer license. She earned the licenses through Ogeechee Technical College in Statesboro.
Effingham Health System welcomes Dr. William J. Kolhoff as a hospitalist and primary care physician. He will be joining Dr. John Bennett and Dr. Claude Sanks in caring for Effingham Hospital's inpatients as a hospitalist and he will be the primary care physician at Effingham Family Medicine in Rincon.
The Georgia Public Service Commission will begin hearings today on the Georgia Power Company 11th Plant Vogtle construction monitoring (VCM) report in Docket 29849. The hearing will start at 10 a.m. in Room 110 at the Commission offices at 244 Washington St., S.W. Atlanta. Additional hearings are scheduled for Dec. 16 and Jan. 20, 2015.

ATLANTA - The Georgia Department of Labor announced that Metro Savannah's unemployment rate for February was 6.0 percent, down four-tenths of a percentage point from 6.4 percent in January. The rate in February 2014 was 7.3 percent.
