ALEXANDRIA, VA-The American College of Health Care Administrators named Norma Jean Morgan, CNHA, FACHCA, administrator of Effingham Extended Care Facility in Springfield as a 2015 recipient of the ACHCA Eli Pick Facility Leadership Award. The award, named in memory of visionary ACHCA member Eli Pick, recognizes administrators whose teams have achieved dimensions of organizational quality that few others have been able to reach. Two hundred and fifty-seven administrators were awarded leadership awards nationally.
Port of Savannah container volumes jumped 25.8 percent in April, with a total volume of 335,337 20-foot equivalent container units, or an additional 69,000 units. The Georgia Ports Authority also saw strong growth in roll-on/roll-off traffic, moving 77,574 units through Brunswick and Savannah, a 14.1 percent gain.

ATLANTA-The Georgia Department of Labor announced that the state's seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate for March was 6.3 percent, unchanged from February, matching its lowest level since July 2008. The rate was 7.3 percent a year ago.
