EHS’ Bennett earns designation to perform DOT physicals

Beginning May 21, 2014, all commercial motor vehicle drivers will be required to have their DOT physicals and associated medical certificates issued by a certified medical examiner. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Act developed the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners to enhance the oversight of interstate drivers through the requirements listed under Section 391.41.

Jobless rate for August dips in region, Effingham

ATLANTA -The Georgia Department of Labor announced that the unemployment rate in the Coastal Georgia region decreased to 8.5 percent in August, down eight-tenths of a percentage point from 9.3 percent in July. The rate was 9.1 percent in August a year ago.

State jobless rate jumps to 7.2 percent

ATLANTA - The Georgia Department of Labor announced Thursday that Georgia's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for May was 7.2 percent, up three-tenths of a percentage point from a revised 6.9 percent in April. The preliminary rate for April was 7.0 percent, but it was revised down one-tenth of a percentage point. The rate in May of last year was 8.4 percent.
