ATLANTA - The Georgia Department of Labor announced Thursday that Metro Savannah's unemployment rate increased to 7.4 percent in June, up five-tenths of a percentage point from 6.9 percent in May. The rate was 8.3 percent in June a year ago.
The Georgia Ports Authority moved more than 29 million tons of cargo, 3 million 20-foot equivalent container units (TEUs) and more than 700,000 auto and machinery units in fiscal year 2014, the GPA reported Monday.
