Jobless rate hits new high

ATLANTA - The Georgia Department of Labor reported that the state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose to a record 10.6 percent in March, up one-tenth of a percentage point from 10.5 percent reported in February. The March jobless rate was up 1.6 percentage points from 9.0 percent at this same time last year.

State revenue figures climb

ATLANTA - Gov. Sonny Perdue announced Tuesday that net revenue collections for the month of March 2010 (FY 2010) totaled $998,239,000 compared to $987,986,000 for March 2009 (FY09), an increase of $10,523,000 or 1.0 percent. This is the first monthly increase in revenues since November 2008.
