Gourd retreat-southern style

The Gourd Retreat-Southern Style was held at Ebenezer Retreat Center on March 26-29. The retreat sponsored an auction to benefit the Low Country Down Syndrome Society at its Saturday night banquet. Gourd artists from all over the country came together at the retreat sponsored by Charlotte Durrence to take classes with other gourd friends. Churches support Manna House

Bethesda United Methodist Church recently made a donation of $1,200 to Manna House Ministries. First Baptist Church of Rincon also sent a special offering of $1,057 for the ministry. Rincon United Methodist, Faith Presbyterian, St. Luke's Episcopal, Bethel Lutheran, Mizpah United Methodist, and Faith Baptist Church contributed more than 500 pounds of food during the March.

Easter at Care Center

The residents at Effingham Care Center made Easter bonnets on April 8. The bonnets were made out of paper plates, multi-colored flowers and lace. The residents had a great time using their creativity to make these one of a kind bonnets.

Mr. and Mrs. Effingham Care Center crowned

John Chancey and Eveline Reiser were crowned Mr. and Mrs. Care Center for 2009. This year's pageant theme was "In the Garden" and there were 35 women and nine men competing for the title. A special thanks goes to Kaye Pitts, Rose Marie Tebeau and Evelyn Davis for serving as judges.

Care center gets a magic show

The residents at Effingham Care facility were mesmerized by the tricks Mr. Magic performed for them on March 24. The residents enjoyed the handkerchiefs, the bird and the Chinese rings that were used during the show. Many of the residents are still wondering "How did he do that?"
