Blackburn honored for "top ops"

Larry Blackburn, center, was honored for having the "top ops" from the Georgia Association of Water Professionals District 9 for Effingham County's wastewater plant operations. This is the first time in seven years a county other than Chatham has won it.

Rincon, Chamber get GATEway grant

Officials of the Georgia Department of Transportation have awarded a $27,800 grant to the city of Rincon for roadside enhancement and beautification improvements along the city's portion of Highway 21.

Roads in Guyton to close for parade

Sections of State Routes 17 and 119 in Guyton will be closed from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, Sept. 15, for the Holy Convocation Parade.

Effingham Orchestra to hold ‘Our Favorites’ concert on Sept. 23

Effingham Community Orchestra director Andrea Huff has announced that the orchestra will present its second annual "Our Favorites Concert" on Sept. 23 at 3 p.m. The concert will be held at the Effingham County Recreation and Parks Department gymnasium, 808 Highway 119 South in Springfield. Admission is free.

Explorer post to hold informational meeting
