Effingham County's Martin Luther King Jr. Day Observance Committee presented the Humanitarian Award to Pastor Paul Moore and the members of the Elam Egypt Baptist Church of Egypt in recognition of their community service outreach program to help their fellow man.
Technical Sgt. Jeffrey Pittman has been named the non-commissioned officer of the year for the Combat Readiness Training Center. Tech Sgt. Pittman serves as the lead NCO in the supply section of mission support for the CRTC and most recently directed the unit's drug testing program. He is a resident Effingham County.
The Noon and Sunrise Rotary Clubs of Effingham County combined their efforts to apply for and receive an approximately $1,200 grant from Rotary International to support Effingham Connect (formerly the Center for Working Families).
Extension Agent Sam Ingram gave a presentation to the Rincon Noon Lions Club on the services provided by the UGA Extension Office. The group meets at 12:15 p.m. on the first and third Monday of each month at the Ameris Bank in Rincon. All interested parties are welcome to attend.
