Crawley discusses roads and revenues

David Crawley, Effingham County administrator, speaks to the Effingham County Rotary Club about the ongoing projects in the county. Higher than projected SPLOST revenue has boosted efforts in transportation, recreational facilities and renovation of the old courthouse, among other projects. Crawley spoke extensively about the Effingham Parkway and Old Augusta Road projects and the exploration of ways to use treated waste water.

Whitehead addresses Rotary

Gail Whitehead, Effingham County elections supervisor, told the Effingham Sunrise Rotary Club about the many and varied duties of the Election Commission. Detailed work assures that every eligible vote counts during elections, but there is year-round work to register and maintain voter records. A recent budget cut will delay plans to provide additional early voting locations in the county.

FORCE to hit the roof for food drive

On Nov. 13, beginning at 1:30 p.m., the FORCE steering committee (composed of Lisa Bush, Janice Mydell, Glenda King, Elaine Spencer and Bonnie Dixon) will "go to new heights" to help raise food for the pantries by climbing onto the roof top of a local business and staying there until 1,000-canned food items have been collected and brought to the designated location.

Georgia Farm Bureau accepting hay contest entries

MACON-Georgia Farm Bureau members who grow Bermudagrass hay are encouraged to enter the GFB 2011 Quality Hay Contest.
