Destiny Bradshaw, program manager for the United Way Effingham Center for Working Families, spoke to the Exchange Club about CWF, a non-profit, community-based organization providing services intended to help families.
While thousands of people have responded to the recent emergency call for blood and platelet donations from the American Red Cross, there remains an urgent need for platelet donors, as well as donors with types O negative, B negative and A negative blood. Right now blood products are being distributed to area hospitals almost as quickly as donations are coming in.
The Farm Service Agency office in Sylvania, working with USDA FSA customers in Effingham County, will hold a committee election procedure workshop, focused on reaching interested individuals within Effingham County. This workshop will be held July 24 at 9 a.m. in the FSA office at the Screven County Courthouse, 216 Mims Road, Room 113, Sylvania.
The American Red Cross issued an emergency request for platelet and blood donors of all blood types to roll up a sleeve and give because fewer donations than expected were received in June and the first week of July.
