Robert Lee Coleman will take the Mars Theatre stage June 21 at 8 p.m. as the second in a series of six concerts at the Mars in support of American Roots and Blues Artists through the Music Maker Relief Foundation.
Clyo Youth Chapter was recognized as the outstanding chapter of the year at the Prince Hall Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star 38th Grand Youth Session, held in Statesboro on April 25-26. There are 47 youth chapters in the Grand Youth Chapter.

Rincon residents participated in the National Letter Carriers Postal Food Drive on May 10, as they were encouraged to fill a bag with non-perishable food items and place it at their mailbox. These items were collected and donated to a local food pantry to help "stamp out" hunger.

Six cadets with the Civil Air Patrol Effingham Cadet Squadron took to the air recently in their first flight in the CAP cadet program from Plantation Air Park near Sylvania. The cadets taking their first flight were Jackson Butler, Trevor Charles, Adam Daugherty, Evan Jenkins, James Jolin and Christopher Palmer.
Effingham County's Jean Vaught received the volunteer of the year award from the Georgia Emergency Management Association, in recognition of her volunteer work with the Effingham County Emergency Management Agency.
