Twin Rivers District of the Coastal Georgia Council Boy Scouts of America, held its annual Eagle Scout and adult volunteer recognition banquet at Springfield United Methodist Church. The event was attended by 126 Scouts and Scouters from the local district.
At its Feb. 4 meeting, the Effingham Exchange Club members and guests listened to veteran Lynn Wardlaw speak about his time serving in the Navy and the challenges he faced when he wanted to publish his first of three books.
From September through November, Effingham Community Orchestra musicians and volunteers were out in the community promoting their ninth annual Holiday Concert and Homemade Cookie Sale and selling tickets for their annual fundraising raffle. The item being raffled was a new Fender acoustic guitar pack including the guitar and accessories. Tyler Beale had the winning ticket, which was drawn at the end of the Dec. 6 holiday concert.
Through his charitable foundation, Oakland Athletics outfielder Josh Reddick delivered shoes, shirts, hoodies and back packs for the boys at the Treutlen House recently, and also supplied the boys with hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, chips, Powerade and bottle water for a party.
Members of Project Linus from the Greater Savannah Chapter stopped by the Court Appointed Special Advocates of the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit, Inc. to donate quilts for the children who are currently in foster care.
