Vietnam vets invited to Sunday Gold Star event
An open invitation has been issued to all Vietnam veterans and their spouses to a reception for the families of Vietnam servicemen who were killed in action. The event will be Jan. 20, at 3 p.m. at the American Legion in Springfield. The event is hosted by the American Legion Post 209 and the Board of the Veterans Park.
Scouts get hands-on with jewelry making
Girls in Troop 30197 earned their junior jeweler badge with the help of Megan Collins, owner/designer of Meg-E-May's Fun Jewelry for the Kid at Heart in Pooler. The day began with the girls viewing many ready-for-sale pieces as Collins explained how they were made and showed them the tools needed for the variety of pieces.
