Margaret Moore, Effingham County Senior Citizens director, was honored by the state Department of Human Resources, Division of Aging Services, as the director of the year for 2009. She also received a certificate of appreciation from the Coastal Georgia Regional Development Center. "She's done an outstanding job," said County Administrator David Crawley.
In September, a Savannah Web site will be launched by Social Work graduates at the University of Georgia that is dedicated to helping clinicians find drug treatment centers for those struggling with addiction in the Savannah area.
State troopers from the Rincon post of the Georgia State Patrol investigated 11 traffic crashes in June in Effingham County. Sgt. 1st Class Chad Riner said the traffic crashes resulted in 12 injuries and no traffic deaths.
