12U Jaguars head to state championship game

The ECRP's 12 and under Jags won the GRPA 1st District championship Nov. 19 in Thomson. They defeated Dublin-Laurens 46-7 in the first round and won by forfeit from Toombs County in the semifinals. In the championship game, they defeated Thomson-McDuffie 43-0. They advance to Cordele on Saturday to play Crisp County in the GRPA South Regionals.

Deadline approaching for alligator quota hunts

If you want to get a chance at a Georgia gator, quota applications must be in by July 31. According to the state Department of Natural Resources' Wildlife Resources Division, 1,000 applicants will be selected for the 2015 alligator hunting season which begins Aug. 14 at sunset and ends Oct. 5 at sunrise.
