Before graduation, parents and friends packed the bleachers in the Effingham County and South Effingham high school gyms for the 2010 class nights, where graduates earned combined over $3.2 million in scholarship awards.
Felicidades! Two Spanish students from South Effingham High School attained national recognition for excellent performance on the 2010 National Spanish Examinations. The National Spanish Examinations are administered each year in grades six through 12, and are sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese.
The Effingham County FBLA club attended the State Leadership Conference held in Atlanta on March 26-28. Six students and two advisors attended. Students competed in Emerging Business Issues, Accounting I, Accounting II, Business Law, and Business Procedures.
SAVANNAH–Dr. Josephine Reed-Taylor, deputy commissioner of the Technical College System of Georgia, will deliver the commencement address at Savannah Technical College's spring graduation June 8 at 6 p.m. in the Johnny Mercer Theatre.
Three Effingham County students are top winners in the Savannah Children's Book Festival Poster Contest, sponsored by Live Oak Public Libraries. The contest was divided into three categories: elementary, middle school, high school and college.
