STC inducts 57 into honors society
SAVANNAH - Fifty-seven Savannah Technical College students were inducted into Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society in a ceremony STC's Eckburg Auditorium. To qualify for Phi Theta Kappa membership, students must have completed a minimum of 12 degree-level semester credit hours and have a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher.

Kindergarten registration under way
The Effingham County School System is now taking appointments for kindergarten registration for the 2013-14 school year. Appointments will be scheduled for Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays through May 9 at the school district's Central Registration Center.
UDC holds Georgia Day program
Fifty-two second-graders at South Effingham Elementary School participated in the United Daughters of the Confederacy's annual Georgia Day program. Maria Bashlor, president of the Effingham County Hussars chapter 2285, led a brief history and slide presentation.
