Pabst named Miss Berry College

Elizabeth Gail Pabst was crowned Miss Berry College 2010. Pabst is a 2007 honor graduate of Effingham County High School. SHES Junior Beta Club shows its heart

The Junior Beta Club at Sand Hill Elementary School made more than 150 Valentine's Day cards for residents at Lakeview Manor Community and the Effingham County Hospital. A show of spirit on the wal-mart wall

South Effingham High School seniors from Mary Cale Anderegg's art class worked three days painting a mural reflective of their school's spirit at the Rincon Wal-Mart entrance. Effingham County High School students previously painted a similar mural at the other end of the store.

STC to offer GED testing information sessions

SAVANNAH-Savannah Technical College will offer general information sessions about GED testing at 2 p.m. on Jan. 25 and Feb. 22 and at 10 a.m. on Feb. 8. The one-hour sessions will be held at the STC Savannah Campus, 5717 White Bluff Road in the Academic Commons Building, Room B126.

In honor of former leader

Holly Usher, assistant principal at Ebenezer Middle School, presents the retired jersey of the late Ramona Lovett to Dr. Brenda Lovett on Friday afternoon. Ramona Lovett, who had been principal at EMS, passed away earlier this school year. Rawlins Honored as top rider

Emma Rawlins, 12, of Springfield, was among those honored at the annual Coastal Hunter Circuit year end banquet on Sunday night. She was awarded Reserve Champion in four separate classes, including 11 and under flat, 11 and under over 2 feet fences, Short Stirrup flat and Short Stirrup Hunter. She was also third overall in Short Stirrup over 2 feet fences. Rawlins is a sixth grader at Ebenezer Middle School and is the daughter of Shea and Chris Rawlins.
