CCA to hold open house

Covenant Christian Academy is hosting an open house on Thursday at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. The morning session will be held at the school, located at 505 N. Laurel Street in Springfield. The evening session will be held at Life Baptist Church on Highway 21, south of Springfield, which is the school's new location for 2007-2008.

SEHS awarded grant for SchoolPads

Next fall, science classes at South Effingham High School will offer more interactive student and teacher participation than in the past thanks to a grant from the Planters Telephone Foundation. According to SEHS Media Specialist Carolyn Kessler, the grant will pay to outfit three classrooms with interactive boards called SchoolPad, software to operate them, ceiling-mounted projectors, quality projection screens, and complete installation for the three classrooms.

Digger Dog visits elementary schools

The Utilities Protection Center of Georgia's mascot, Digger Dog, visited Rincon and Marlow Elementary schools in Effingham to encourage students in second and third grades to "Call Before You Dig." "Converge" was the 2011 See You at the Pole theme held Sept. 28. More than 70 students attended the event at South Effingham Middle School. Supported by students, friends, family, and staff members the SEMS SYATP Leadership Team hosted the event.
