South Effingham tunes up for band signing day

Last Wednesday, 11 South Effingham High School band students took the next step with their band careers and signed to play in college at SEHS' band college signing day. Sean McBride, South Effingham band director, started Band College Signing Day to honor all of the students who are pursuing band in college.

Area FFA officers chosen

Katlyn Davis, a member of the South Effingham Middle FFA chapter, was elected to serve as the 2016-17 Area 4 Junior Representative during the Area 4 Awards Ceremony held at East Georgia College. Selected to serve as treasurer was Abby Dickerson of Effingham County. Also serving this year are: Area 4 president - Hannah Cheek, Cross Creek; vice president - Brittany Brady, Montgomery County; Secretary - Laura Beth Bland, Southeast Bulloch; high reporter - Chloe Lynch, Islands; sentinel - Macy Coker, Jenkins County; Jr representative - Ethan Fields, Johnson County.

Parker’s provides a spark at GES

SAVANNAH-Parker's recently donated $8,000 to the Effingham County School System through the company's popular Fueling the Community program. The check donation took place at a special ceremony during the annual Field Day celebration at Guyton Elementary School on May 6.

ECHS cadets make it six straight Distinguished Unit Awards

The headquarters of the U.S. Air Force Junior ROTC announced recently that Effingham County High School, Unit GA-938, has been awarded the Air Force Junior ROTC Distinguished Unit Award (DUA) for school year 2015-16. This marks the sixth consecutive year the corps of cadets at ECHS has earned the DUA, and the tenth time in the last 12 years.
