Herrin earns Provost Scholarship
Athens - University of Georgia fisheries and aquaculture major and Rincon resident James Herrin was awarded the Ernie E. Provost Scholarship at the Daniel B. Blandford recognizes first graduating class
On Tuesday, Blandford Elementary honored its first graduating class, the class of 2007. Blandford Elementary School, Effingham County's newest school opened its doors in August 2006. School district lines were redrawn and some students from Rincon Elementary and South Effingham Elementary joined to form Blandford Elementary. Local students earn President’s, Dean’s lists recognition at Georgia Southern
Georgia Southern University students from the area have been named to the President's List for the Spring 2007 term. These students have achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average with a minimum of 12 credit hours for the semester.

ECMS students accepted to science camp
Three Effingham County Middle School students were recently accepted into Georgia Southern's Eagle Science Camp in Statesboro. Their science teacher, Mrs. Carmen Bennett and their math teacher, Mrs. Michelle Wilson, nominated the students. The students are Dallas Vermillion, Austin Brownlow and Hunter Tuttle.

ECHS YAC pitches in for FORCE
From Sept. 12-16 the ECHS Youth Advisory Council, along with the Interact Club and Family Connection Communities and Schools, sponsored an After Labor Day Food Drive benefitting the Food Outreach Co-op of Effingham (FORCE). They collected 1,500 nonperishable goods to help FORCE restock local food pantries.
