ECHS puts a cap on National FFA Week
Effingham County High School FFA finished off National FFA Week on March 5. There was strong participation in the activities all week long from FFA members and non-members alike.
Rincon Elementary ‘kicks butts’
Students at Rincon Elementary School participated in the national Kick Butts Day - cigarette butts, that is. Seventy lunch boxes were placed at the front entrance of the school to represent the 70 children who try cigarettes for the first time every day. They are also in the midst of Tar Wars, another program that educates children about the short and long term effects of tobacco use.

All smiles and teary-eyed, senior Jessica Heidt was named 2010 Miss ECHS on Saturday night. "I didn't know what to think. I was so excited," said Heidt of when her name was called. ECHS YAC pitches in for FORCE
From Sept. 12-16 the ECHS Youth Advisory Council, along with the Interact Club and Family Connection Communities and Schools, sponsored an After Labor Day Food Drive benefitting the Food Outreach Co-op of Effingham (FORCE). They collected 1,500 nonperishable goods to help FORCE restock local food pantries.

ALBANY - Jennifer A. Hart of Rincon made the Dean's List at Darton College for the Summer 2011 semester. To qualify for the Dean's List, a student must be full time and have earned a 3.4 or higher grade point average.
