Mark Tanner from Rincon participated in a six-week Science and Technology Expansion Program (STEP) this summer at Armstrong Atlantic State University. As an entering freshman to Armstrong, Tanner conducted research on nanoparticle catalysis of environmental pollutants. He lived on campus free of charge and received a weekly stipend of $300.
Gov. Nathan Deal has announced that Georgia is one of 10 states to be awarded $1 million by Complete College America to fuel policy innovations and reforms aimed at significantly increasing college completion. Georgia Southern University student Jeffrey Hupman was awarded a $10,000 scholarship from the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), a nonprofit corporation. The Tampa, Fla., native has achieved a 3.93 GPA, and is the first student from the University to be awarded the competitive national scholarship.
