Department of Labor offers 2009 summer internship program

ATLANTA - State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond announced that the Georgia Department of Labor's 2009 Summer Internship Program will offer internships for up to 80 students. The internship program is designed to provide students at universities, colleges and technical colleges with practical work experience, an opportunity to earn school credit, and a chance to make up to $1,400 this summer.

Prom promise money given to ECHS

John Conley of the Peace Officers Association of Georgia, Georgia State Patrol troopers and Effingham County Sheriff Jimmy McDuffie and Chief Deputy Richard Bush present a $2,500 check to Jasmine Nethels and other Effingham County High School junior class officers. The money is for "prom promise" and will be used for prom week activities that encourage an alcohol-free prom.
