MACON - Mercer University conferred bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees to more than 1,900 students representing all 12 schools and colleges at five spring commencement ceremonies during May in Macon, Atlanta and Savannah.
COVINGTON - This summer 90 students from the Effingham County High School and Effingham County Middle School FFA chapters were challenged to find the "hero within." They were part of more than 2,500 students who attended the FFA-FCCLA Summer Leadership Camp 2014 at the Georgia FFA-FCCLA Center in Covington.
ATLANTA - Nine students from the area earned the distinction of dean's list at the Georgia Institute of Technology for spring 2014. This designation is awarded to undergraduate students who have a 3.0 or higher academic average for the semester.
Students will be going back to school in less than two months and health department officials in Bryan, Camden, Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long, and McIntosh counties are encouraging parents to be proactive about getting required immunizations for children.
VALDOSTA - Valdosta State University has announced the students from spring 2014 who met all qualifications for graduation. More than 1,200 were recognized for receiving their associate's, bachelor's or master's degrees.
AMERICUS - Three Effingham County students were among the 300 graduates from Georgia Southwestern State University at the spring 2014 commencement ceremony in Convocation Hall of the Student Success Center.
