STATESBORO-Georgia Southern University recently named 2,611 students for excellence in academics to the spring semester dean's list. To be eligible for the dean's list, a student must have at least a 3.5 grade point average and carry a minimum of 12 hours for the semester.
STATESBORO-Dr. Jean Bartels expects to lead Georgia Southern University into the 2015-16 academic year as interim president while a search for a new permanent president is conducted with input from the campus and community.

Ben Heller was presented the Henry C. Wilkins Scholarship by the Historic Effingham Society. He is the son of Hank and Sabrina Heller. He graduated from Effingham County High School and will be attending Valdosta State University to major in history.
Caroline Alexander, a 2015 graduate of Effingham County High School, has been selected as a recipient of a Georgia-Pacific Foundation Employees' Children Scholarship. She is the daughter of Joel and Kelly Alexander. Joel is an engineer at Georgia-Pacific's Savannah River Mill.
