School system announces summer hours

All Effingham County Schools will be open to the public from 8 a.m.-2 p.m., Monday through Thursday during the summer months, May 21-June 28 and July 9-July 12. All schools will close for summer break July 2-6. Beginning July 16, all schools will return to their regular schedule of operating five days a week with their regular school hours.

Rice named BA teacher of the year

Bulloch Academy first grade teacher Eileen Rice was recently named the school's 2007-2008 Teacher of the Year. Rice's husband, George, and son, Nathan, made a surprise appearance at the May faculty meeting where headmaster Dr. Brenda Shuman-Riley made the announcement.
