The Effingham County 4-H shotgun team competed in the 2013 state 4-H modified trap competition at Rock Eagle 4-H Center on May 11. There were approximately 900 shooters from across the state competing at the match.
SAVANNAH – Fifteen students from Effingham County were named to the 2012-13 president's list at Armstrong Atlantic State University.

STATESBORO-Valentin Soloiu, the Allen E. Paulson Chair of Renewable Energy at Georgia Southern University, has been awarded a $360,000 research for undergraduates grant from the National Science Foundation. The program, under Soloiu's direction, will start next summer and be available to students across the country to explore solutions to energy problems.

South Effingham High School graduate Donald Quinones has received a $1,500 Scholarship for Military Children, awarded at Hunter Army Airfield. Hunter Army Airfield is one of more than 250 commissaries operated worldwide by the Defense Commissary Agency.
