STATESBORO-Glenn Jackson and Taylor Roberson from Effingham County High School were two of the high school seniors invited to attend Georgia Southern University's Annual Southern Scholars Showcase in December at its main campus in Statesboro.

The Effingham County High School Calculus Club celebrated Down Syndrome Awareness month during the month of October by raising funds for the local Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society. They raised money through a raffle and by collecting donations in their piggy banks during their annual "Dimes for Down Syndrome" campaign. This year, the club raised a record $1,321.35 through their efforts.
BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - Gardner-Webb University announces that Jennifer Gomez of Rincon was among a total of nearly 300 students who recently graduated during its 2009 fall commencement exercises.Gomez received a BS in Physical Education.
Mark Blankenship Jr. of Rincon was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. Blankenship was initiated at Georgia Southern University.
